Grants & Research Team
In November of 2004, Project URGE began a Grant and Research Team in order to build our organization’s and our affiliates’ ability to apply for grant funding. Project URGE became part of a community consortium group called FACT (Faith And Communities Together), led by Foodlink, in conjunction with CUPP (Community University Partnership Project). This group led collaborative efforts for applying for federal, state, and local funding. Additionally, the consortium sought to find more tangible ways for organizations to partner within the community in regard to capacity building. Through these programs we were able to link with organizations in financial need and were also able to provide some organizations the opportunity to collaborate with a sponsoring faith-based institution.
In 2007 Project URGE was involved in administering technical assistance and advice through the Capital Compassion Fund, a federally funded grant to help grassroots organizations for capacity building. Project URGE worked in conjunction with Roberts Wesleyan College Professor Len Erb and with Foodlink in working with five organizations.
In late winter and spring of 2009, training sessions were offered to grassroots faith-based organizations and community-based organizations to further capacity building within organizations. These training sessions grew from our commitment to finding ways to strengthen organizations and work collaboratively. In 2007 Project URGE was involved in administering technical assistance and advice through the Capital Compassion Fund, a federally funded grant to help grassroots organizations for capacity building. The Grant and Research Team is currently regrouping and looking for people who have expertise in research and grant writing. Please contact Project URGE at prourge@aol.com if you would like to be a part of this team.
