(The 4 Points refer to designated areas within the City of Rochester's "Poverty Crescent")
- Provide tangible solutions toward transformation of neighborhoods, positively impacting and reflecting on the city as a whole. These solutions would employ assets of the existing neighborhoods and the surrounding area as described below. These efforts would be in the areas of job creation, housing, health, environment, and youth activities. The intention is to confront the challenges of each neighborhood directly and create a true sense of community.
- Build upon, extend and strengthen the coalitions and collaborative efforts already in place and currently developing. These comprise a foundation established through relationships forged over the past four years with Project URGE, Inc. affiliates.
- Target the four target zones (see 4 Point Plan worksheet) along the "poverty crescent" from which local, cooperating ministries, organizations and individuals will be partnering, planning and community building.
- Emulate proven strategies of other grassroots efforts that have been instrumental in addressing and transforming other cities' issues of poverty and race (e.g. Chicago, Dallas, Baltimore, etc.). Transpose those initiatives and strategies, used in conjunction with our own initiatives, into a framework with a tailored approach fitting to the City of Rochester's attributes.
- Involve others living outside the zones in tasks appropriate to a particular expertise or asset, translating a desire or passion to serve in a capacity that will enhance the implementation of these plans and strategies.
The 4 areas to be targeted are as follows:
